TUDOR FASTRIDER BLACK SHIELD
It is true that these days vintage watches enjoying upsurge of popularity, I’m very glad that Tudor also maintains a solid lineup of contemporary models. From the very first look anybody can tell that Tudor Fastrider Black Shield belongs in the present. Inspired by the Ducati’s new Xdiavel, “a cruiser with the spirit of superbike” this watch is a result of ongoing partnership with Ducati. Tudor is one of the companies that continues to innovate not only it’s movements, but also a design that clearly reflect contemporary style. One of the most noticeable aspects of this model is it’s 42 mm case. Made out of black ceramic it gives the watch modern look combined with scratch resistance qualities. It’s important to mention that the black ceramic will never fade and the black color finish will never come off.
The dial has distinctive different style than Tudor’s other models. The texture is not flat, but has a subtle textured sunburst finish. Under the twelve o’ clock mark you will see the three dimensional Tudor logo with the very well noticeable name of the watch model underneath. The dial features chronograph, additional three subdials and the date. All stylistically working together without sacrificing the reading legibility. The hour and the minute hands have a skeleton see through design with the white luminous tips. Hour markers are covered with the luminous paint and also look three dimensional. The small subdials have a nice round texture applied to them and look indented. The date window is very small, but readable, right between four and five o’clock.
The screw crown is emblazoned with the the shield logo. The waterproof rating of this watch is 150 meters, which is plenty for most swimmers. The strap is made out of the black leather with the white thread stitching.
At the heart of Tudor Fastrider Black Shield is calibre 7753 movement which is very closely related to the Valjoux 7750. It’s a self-winding chronograph movement with 27 jewels, ball-bearing rotor, unidirectional winding and a power reserve of about 46 hours.
