German watches don’t get as much attention as their Swiss counterparts, but there are plenty of excellent timepieces from the country’s best. Nomos Glashütte is one of the more unique brands from Germany, and its striking style helps make it a perfect watch for fall.Â
Nomos’ watches feature a bold Bauhaus-inspired design that sets them apart from everything else on the market. The brand is known for its minimalist designs and casual watches, though it has sold models with more robust water resistance ratings and beefier cases. In most cases, however, Nomos’ watches are more at home in the office than on the sea or hiking the trails.
One thing about that style is that Nomos’ watches tend to look much more natural on leather and woven straps than on bracelets. The company’s catalog reflects this, too, as it only offers a bracelet on a few models. Even so, most Nomos watches work with a huge variety of straps in almost any material, so you won’t be lacking in choice.
The company makes its own movements and offers everything from quartz timepieces to hand-wound watches. The Tangente, for example, comes with Nomos’ Alpha movement that provides 43 hours of power reserve and manual winding. The Tangente Neomatik 41 has an automatic movement that provides a 42-hour power reserve.
Finally, one of Nomos’ most significant selling points is its value. The brand’s timepieces come in at a reasonable price and offer plenty of capability and quality for the money. The fact that it makes its movements and offers such unique designs doesn’t hurt, either.
