The main goal was to satisfy the needs of professional divers. The watch had to be operational at great depths. The experimental Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA CHALLENGE watch is designed to be waterproof up to 12,000 metres, is the only watch that reached and stayed operational at the bottom of Mariana Trench.
  The Rolex Submariner is appealing to a larger audience of watch, sport and diver enthusiasts. The model is showcasing the highest standards of quality and durability.   The Rolex Sea-Dweller model is a more functional tool. It is designed for extreme conditions and is bigger, bulkier and sturdier. The model is showcasing the highest standards of quality and durability.
