This weekend, the Rolex 24 at Daytona takes place with 24 hours of action-packed racing, a carnival-like atmosphere, and a ultra-desirable first-place price. Several cars and teams take part in the event every year, and 2022 marks the event’s 60th anniversary.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona runs a full 24 hours from afternoon to afternoon, as it has since 1962. This year’s event kicks off with a premier event at the track on January 26, during which fans can see the cars and meet drivers. The 2022 calendar year marks the race’s 60th anniversary, and the weekend is full of fan-centered events and exhibits. Thursday, attendees can watch a Mazda MX-5 Miata practice, qualifying, and race, along with various other attractions. Friday, the track will host carnival rides and a boardwalk experience, followed by a BMW M Endurance Challenge to close the day.

Saturday January 29 is the big day. Pre-race festivities include photos with the Rolex 24 trophy, tours of the Motorsports Hall of Fame, and more. Fans with access can hit the grid at noon, and pre-race ceremonies kick off at 1:15 pm. The race itself starts at 1:40 pm, and the festivities run through Sunday afternoon when the race concludes at 1:40 pm.

Since Rolex sponsors the event, and since it’s in Daytona, a Rolex Daytona chronograph is the only fitting first-place price. Racers love the watch, because it’s a trophy they can wear and they don’t have to hide it away in an awards case at home.
